The understanding of Concept of Bioeconomics is poorly recognized among local development stakeholders, although many initiatives related to Bioeconomics have been implemented all over Latvia. The goal of the Forum is to move forward common understanding of the Concept and raise awareness of bioeconomics among different stakeholders, who are interested to promote new approaches for regional development. Alongside to raising the awareness, Local Action Groups are keen to establish close cooperation, including cross-territory and cross-border projects, to initiate new businesses in rural areas.

December 5th
10.00 – 12.00 Visit to the Technology and Knowledge Transfer Center in Jelgava;
14.00 – 19.00 Lectures and seminars on bioeconomy in Daugmale.
Keynote speakes:
- Jukka Lokka, Development Manager in Sodankylä Municipality;
- Mads Randboll Wolff, Adviser at the Nordic Council of Ministers;
- Anita Seļicka, Executive director of Latvian Rural Forum;
- Āris Ādlers, Member of council Latvian Rural Forum.
Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Latvian University of Agriculture are invited to attend the session. During the session, the launch of the Latvian Bioeconomic Major project will take place, as well as experience stories about bio-economic initiatives in local action groups.
December 6th
09.00 – 12.30 National framework for bioeconomic development and practical proposals for the development of bioeconomy in local areas (lectures and working groups).
