The Cities2030 project is nearing its conclusion after four years of work under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 science and research support program. The project aimed to address issues related to sustainable food systems and promote the implementation of the “Farm to Fork” approach, ensuring access to healthy and locally-sourced food for everyone in Europe.
Key issues addressed during the project include:
✅ Changes in Green Public Procurement;
✅ Adoption of best procurement practices and knowledge exchange events;
✅ More local food in school and kindergarten meals;
✅ Educational activities on responsible food consumption and choosing local food.
The Latvian Rural Forum and Vidzeme Planning Region were key partners in Latvia, working with local farmers, producers, and communities.
The project has brought positive changes in 20 countries, including Latvia, and is set to conclude at the end of September.
