The first Latvian Rural communities parliament that happened in June 2013  held more than 190 Latvian rural and small urban communities as well as the Latvian Saeima, the Environmental Protection and Regional Development, Ministry of Agriculture and other stakeholders in the development of regional government bodies, non-governmental organizations and local community representatives worked on parliamentary resolutions that resulted in a document which identified nine actions which by 2015. The ongoing second Latvian Rural communities Parliament must be taken to ensure the sustainability of rural communities.

Rural communities need to promote sustainable activities in the following areas:

 

Intangible resource-diverse community

-Effective communication and exchange between communities

Community-active involvement, participation, participation and co-responsibility

-Rural Area positive image and attractiveness of susceptible people

-Land and other resources to live and work

-Local products and the business public recognition and support

-Funding for development initiatives.

-Lifelong Learning

Local-boosting role in community development
